Bridge

Description:

The Bridge is a stretch position that develops flexibility in the chest, upper back, and shoulders.  Developing a solid range of motion in this region can help when learning various complex skills that require good body control and flexibility in the upper extremity.  Examples include kipping muscle ups on rings (as well as on high bar) and other dynamic gymnastics-based skills that are gaining wide popularity in the CrossFit world.

 

Process:

  • lay on your back with arms over head
  • bend both knees and elbows and plant soles of feet and palms firmly on the ground (fingers should be facing towards you)
  • extend knees and elbows to allow your body to lift off the ground
  • extend through the shoulders and arch back to allow chest to open
