Crunches

Description:

Crunches are one of the most basic and widely utilized core exercises by athletes from all types of disciplines.  It is a simple, yet effective exercise than can be performed anywhere.  Avoid rocking the head as this may place stress on the neck.  Instead, try to keep the head in line with the torso during the sit up phase.

 

Process:

  • lie on back and bend both knees while keeping feet flat on the ground
  • arms may be to either side of the body or crossed against the chest
  • engage abs to lift shoulder off the ground and up towards the ceiling
  • pause for a second at the pinnacle before lowering back down
