Lunging Leg Pull

Description:

A Lunging Leg Pull is a multifunctional stretch that not only stretches the hamstrings, but the quads and hip flexors as well.  Adjust the depth of the lunge to feel a lighter or deeper stretch.  Ensure that the hips remain square and facing forward.  In order to minimize strain, when pulling the rear leg towards your buttocks, ensure that this is done so in a gradual manner.

 

Process:

  • begin in a kneeling position and bring one leg forward straight out in front
  • bend rear leg hold the position by grabbing by the ankle
  • lean weight towards the front leg to bend front knee while lightly pulling the rear ankle towards the buttocks to feel a stretch in the quads
  • ensure that hips remain facing forward and upper body stays upright
  • switch sides
