Seal Stretch

Description:

The Seal Stretch is a position that is often seen in the Yoga realm (commonly known as an upward dog) but is also a common stretch in gymnastics. This stretch emphasizes chest, as well as upper and lower back flexibility.  Utilizing this stretch is especially important after a heavy core workout.  For best results, pull the shoulders back and slightly look up.

 

Process:

  • start in a pushup position with toes pointed
  • lower hips to the floor and arch back while opening up the chest
  • pull shoulders back and lift head up for added stretch
