Seated Shoulder Stretch

Description:

The Seated Shoulder Stretch is an important stretch position that increases mobility in the shoulders.  It is a common stretch utilized by gymnasts of all ages.  The amount of stretch can be increased by reaching further back with the hands and allowing your upper body to sink towards the ground.

 

Process:

  • begin in a seated position with both arms behind you
  • slowly extend both arms and reach hands behind you until you feel a stretch in the shoulder
  • try to maintain hands as close to each other as possible
