Sideways Seal Stretch

Description:

The Sideways Seal Stretch is a variation of the seal stretch.  The sideways seal is an effective stretch position that is used to open up the external obliques.  In order to optimize this stretch, avoid piking at the hips and ensure that  the torso and legs form a straight line.

Process:

  • begin in a seal stretch
  • turn 90 degrees so that your anterior (front of body) is facing outward, while your side is facing the ground
  • arch your side to create an arc and feel a stretch in the obliques
  • switch sides
