Single Leg Hop

Description:

Single Leg Hops are simple, yet challenging exercises that develop power, coordination, and stability in the legs.  For best results, ensure that your body remains upright and make sure that you extend the ankles and push through the toes with each jump.  Furthermore, staying as light on the toes as possible will enable you to maintain a good tempo between each hop.

Process:

  • begin in a stand with core engaged
  • lift one leg up and bend it behind you
  • jump laterally, making sure that you extend all the way through your toes and land back on the same leg
  • as soon as you make contact with the floor, immediately jump back to the opposite side and repeat jumps
  • switch legs
