Standing Quad Stretch

Description:

A Standing Quad Stretch is one of the most commonly utilized basic stretches to warm up the quads.  If you are prone to lower back pain/strain, refrain from pulling the ankle too quickly and avoid any jerky motion.  Gradually increase the pull of the ankle for a mild stretch.

Process:

  • begin in a stand (one hand can be supported against a railing or a wall for balance)
  • bend one leg and bring it up towards the buttocks and grab the ankle with the hand on the same side
  • continue to stand tall and slowly pull the ankle towards the buttocks
  • switch sides
