Straddle Scoots

Description:

Straddle Scoots are exercises that develop abdominal and hip flexor strength, as well as stamina in the upper arms and shoulders.  In order to maximize the benefit of this exercise, ample flexibility in a straddle position (pancake) is required.  Knees should remain straight and tight during this exercise.   Most athletes find it beneficial to push out using the heels of their palms.

Process:

  • begin in a seated straddled position
  • position hands between legs and slightly in front
  • push body out backwards by lifting buttocks slightly up and opening up shoulder angle
  • take caution when lowering body especially on harder surfaces
  • repeat for desired length
