Straight Jumps

Description:

The most basic jumping technique used in a variety of sports is the Straight Jump.  Developing proper technique for this particular jumping style and learning how to engage the correct muscles will build the foundation required to perform more complex skills and exercises.  Straight jumps are always a good addition to any plyometric workout.

Process:

  • begin in a stand with core engaged
  • keep a straight posture and head in a neutral position
  • slightly bend your knees and simultaneously swing arms behind you
  • jump by stretching the entire body, extending through the hips, knees, and toes
  • arms should swing above the head during the jumping phase
