Strict Pull Ups

Description:

Strict Pull Ups are one of the most well-known and fundamental upper body exercises.  Pull ups primarily activate the lats, but also develops other major muscle groups in the upper body.  Developing a solid pull up strength is especially important for those wishing to learn the muscle up, as the initial movement for the pull up and muscle up are virtually identical.  Scale by performing the pull up hold.

 

Process:

  • begin in a hang on a bar
  • engage core and bend elbows to lift body up until chin is in line with the bar
  • maintain body position and control as you lower yourself to return to the starting position
