Supported Leg Lifts

Description:

Supported Leg Lifts are multifunctional exercises that activate the major upper body muscles, and also the core and hip flexors.  When performing this exercise, refrain from rounding the back as this will place extra stress on the lower back.  If the pike position is a weakness, continue to improve flexibility in this position as doing so will allow you to lift your legs higher.  Developing more mobility and range of motion will in turn help you to target more muscles in the abdominal region.

Process:

  • begin in a support position with legs together
  • without rounding the back, bend at the hips and lift both legs as high as possible
  • once at the pinnacle, lower your legs in a controlled fashion and repeat
