Toes to Bar from L-Position

Description:

Toes to Bar from an L-Position combines the elements of a toes to bar with an L-hold.  Because the legs are never meant to drop below 90 degrees, the abdominal muscles are forced to contract during the entire exercise, making for an ideal exercise to develop strength in the abdominal region.  For best results, solidify an L-position before performing this exercise.  Scale by performing standard toes to bar.

Process:

  • begin in a long-hang position on a bar
  • engage core and keep head in a neutral position
  • bend at the hips to bring legs up 90 degrees to settle into an L-position
  • without overly arching the back, close hip angle and raise legs to bring toes to bar
  • once toes make contact with the bar, open up hip angle to bring legs down to L-position
