Toes to Bar

Description:

Toes to Bar is an exercise that is designed to strengthen the upper abdominals as well as the hip flexors.  This exercise is becoming increasingly popular in the CrossFit realm.  In order to facilitate a smoother movement and to perform this exercise with utmost efficiency, ensure that you possess ample flexibility in the pike position.  The more flexibility you possess in the pike, the less strain you will be placing on the glutes and hamstrings.  Scale by performing knees to elbows.

 

Process:

  • begin in a long-hang position on a bar
  • engage core and keep head in a neutral position
  • without overly arching the back, bend at the hips to bring toes to bar
  • once toes make contact with the bar, open up hip angle to bring legs down to return to starting position
