Sumo Stretch is a stretch position that effectively stretches multiple areas at once, including the hamstrings, quads, calves, and tendons in the lower leg. By placing your hands on your knees and gently twisting the upper extremity, you can also stretch a number of regions, beginning with your upper to lower back.
- begin with feet positioned slightly wider than shoulders
- squat down until legs are at least at a 90 degree angle or until you feel a light stretch
- place hands on knees and apply a gentle twist with the upper extremity for a stretch in the back
