There are countless reasons why strengthening the core is super important. Not only does it keep your mid-section strong and healthy but it helps you perform complex movements more efficiently. Recently I’ve had the chance to work on handstand push-ups with a number of folks and it wasn’t the upper body strength that was lacking. It was more so figuring out how to engage the core so that the body could move as a single unit. Here I am performing deficit handstand push-ups. There are many elements involved but one of the most important parts to it is understanding how to keep the core engaged.
